Sam Stone age 73 of Knoxville, Tennessee formerly of Magoffin County, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Summit View Nursing Home in Rocky Top, Tennessee. He was born August 5, 1942 in Gunlock, Kentucky to the late Willard and Orpha Wireman Stone. He was the husband of Sharon Kaye Conley Stone, who survives.
Emmitt Ray Borders age 76 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was born October 3, 1938 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Bascom and Elizabeth Crace Borders. He was the husband of Shelby Jean Wireman Borders, who preceded him in death. Survivors include one brother Earshel Borders of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, one sister Easter Blair of Swamp Branch, Kentucky, four nieces and nephews and one great niece.
Emmitt worked at Continental Conveyor in Salyersville, Kentucky.
Daeson Watson, age 62, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.
Mr. Watson was born April 16, 1953 in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of the late Conrad and Edna Bailey Watson. Also, preceding him in death are sisters, Geraldine Bartles, Dawn Sue Watson; and brothers, Ronnie Watson, Larry Watson.
Mr. Watson was employed as a self-employed carpenter until his retirement.
Leola Bailey Cole age 81 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. She was born October 7, 1933 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Sherman and Dora Miller Bailey. She was the wife of Oscar Cole, who preceded her in death.
David Carroll Howes age 68 of Kelly Branch Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at his home. He was born January 5, 1947 in Conley, Kentucky to the late Clayton Howes and Hazel Whitt Howes, who survives. He was the husband of Joann Sparks Howes, who also survives.

She was born March 4, 1941 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Estill and Effie Chatt Hall. She was preceded in death by her first husband Woodrow Dykes and her second husband Woodrow Prater.
Benjamin Franklin Arnett Jr. age 50 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born September 28, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Benjamin Franklin Arnett Sr. and Gloria Cronk Arnett, who survives. Survivors also include two daughters Emily Arnett and Lindsay Arnett, both of Lexington, Kentucky, one brother Jim Arnett of Salyersville, Kentucky and one sister Lillie Bayes of Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

He was born January 17, 1928 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late John Riley and Martha Caldwell Montgomery. He was the husband of Arzella Barnett Montgomery, who preceded him in death.
Alma Whitaker Slusher age 71 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at her home. She was born January 3, 1944 in Royalton, Kentucky to the late Jessie and Oma Whitaker Caudill. She was the wife of Carl Jr. Slusher, who preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons Carl Vonery Slusher of Royalton, Kentucky and Ronnie Slusher of Salyersville, Kentucky, two daughters Jeanette Helton and Becky Puckett both of Salyersville, Kentucky, one sister Mary Jane Pinks of Plainwell, Michigan, seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Thelma Jean Martin, 83, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away at her home on Sunday morning, September 6, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born in Salyersville, Kentucky on October 1, 1931, the daughter of the late James and Junie (McCarty) Huff. She spent her childhood in Kentucky and moved to Jasper County, Indiana in the early 1940’s. She attended the Salyersville, KY and Kniman, IN public schools. On November 20, 1946, in Rensselaer, she married Mannie Martin.
