Lee Bailey, age 79, of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky. Lee was born March 28, 1931 to the late Add and Mary Conley Bailey in Magoffin County, Kentucky and was united in marriage to Clara Shepherd who survives. Lee was a Retired Coal Miner and of the Baptist faith. Rev. William J. Wheeler Sr., age 66 of Marengo returned to his heavenly father on September 29, 2010 surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 20, 1944 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Lester and Ethel (Cantrell) Wheeler. A graduate of Magoffin County High School, he served in the US Navy.
For the past 35 years he has been a resident of the Marengo area and had worked at Tecumseh and Sunray Stoves.
Barnett “Bill” Howard, age 79, a resident of LaGrange, KY, passed away September 29, 2010 at the Home Stead Nursing Home. Barnett was born January 6, 1931 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, He is the son of the late Sylvester Howard and Leona Howard. Survivors include two daughters Debbie Robinson of LaGrange, KY, and Vickie Sutherland of Shelbyville, KY, two sisters Pauline Howard and Ella Ward both of Salyersville, KY, six Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.
Earsel James Howard, age 66, a resident of Salyersville, KY passed away September 27, 2010 at his residence. Earsel was born December 31, 1944 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, the son of the late Lloyd Howard and Woodie Salyer Howard. Survivors include one brother, Larry Brent Bailey of Salyersville, KY. In addition to his parents, one brother; Charles Bailey Jr. preceded Earsel in death. Memorial Services were conducted at 12:00 PM on October 7, 2010. Arrangements were under the care of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
Marie Bailey, 96, of Marion, Ohio died on September 27, 2010 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio following a massive stroke.
Marie was born August 23, 1914 in Salyersville, Kentucky where she spent her childhood, married and started her family. In the early 1940’s, she moved to Marion with her husband and four children at the time. Her fifth and last child was born in Marion.
Ovie was the first born son of Edgar and Ruie Carty, born on February 4th, 1928. He was raised on Stinson and was the oldest of eleven children. Times were hard in those days, but it was still happy times. Ovie went to school and helped on the farm. Ovie met Sue Dell Arnett in 1954. After a seven year courtship, they married on November 1st, 1961.
Andrew Keith Allen, age 17 months old passed away September 26, 2010 at Rogers, KY. Andrew was born April 21, 2009 in West Liberty, KY, the son of Ricky Allen and Angela Cox. Survivors include his parents; four brothers, James Hutchinson and Dakota Hunley of West Liberty, KY, Ricky Dallas Allen and Austin Wade Allen of Prestonsburg, KY; three sisters, Katie Rose Allen of Prestonsburg, KY, Haley May and Amber Hunley of West Liberty, KY. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 30th at 1:00 pm from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Reed officiating. Burial follow
Marjorie Lykins Miller, born June 30, 1930 the daughter of the late Harrison and Nola Dunn Lykins of Magoffin County Kentucky, Passed away September 23 2010 at the Cincinnati Hospice Center in Blue Ash, Ohio. Celebration of Life Services were conducted by the Rev. Tim Kudfeldt September 35, 2010. Internment followed in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH.
