Plans are pretty close to the completion stage and organizers have begun promoting Magoffin County Community Day.
Designed with community enjoyment and non-profit fund raising in mind, the sixth annual event will be held August 15 at Ramey Memorial Park.
Organizers are presenting Community Day as a fun event to help raise money for participating non-profit civic organizations in the county. They say the goal is to raise money to benefit Magoffin County citizens through the various organizations, including REACH, Teen Scene, Senior Citizens, and Christian Care Fund.
Other groups already announcing their participation are the Woman’s Club, Kiwanis, Salyersville Renaissance, Rescue Squad, Miss Magoffin Scholarship Organization, Magoffin County Military Support Group, the Funyons Homemakers Club, Girl Scouts Troup 1158, Boy Scouts Troup 862, 4-H Youth Camp Scholarship, and District 3, Middle Fork, North Magoffin, and Bloomington volunteer fire departments.
Activities, including food booths, games, raffles, dunking booth, and an organization’s tug of war, are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Entertainment will also be a big part of the event, which is styled toward the event’s family theme.
Musical talent already scheduled features Mountain Heart, Blue Highway, Ernie Thacker, and Charlie Sizemore.
Tickets are currently on sale for $10 each and can be purchased at both branches of the Salyersville National Bank.
Tickets will also be available at the gate on the day of the event. Children under 12 will receive free admission.
