On February 27th, the team traveled to Somerset to Pulaski County High School for the KDCO State Dance Competition (Kentucky Dance Coach Organization).
The team had outstanding performances at the competition bringing home 1st place in the Large Open division, 3rd place in the Large Pom division and 5th place in the Large Hip Hop division. The team executed their routines with perfection and confidence as they were cheered on by a host of excited fans.
The competition was made up of 42 teams, 13 regions, and over 80 performances were scheduled. This was the second state-wide Kentucky State Dance Championship for KDCO (Kentucky Dance Coaches Organization).
Teams had the option of competing in four different categories, pom, jazz, open, and hip hop. The Magoffin County High School Dancers competed in three of the four categories offered.
The Magoffin County High School Dance Team traveled to state competition as the 15th Region Champion in the Large Pom division.
The dance team consists of the following members seniors Morgan Harvey, Brooke Estep, Katie Hunley, Ashton Johnson, and Megan Holloway, juniors Paige Howard and Peyton Howard, sophomores Latoshia Hall, Lindsey Phillips, Bianca Montgomery, Julie Adams, Julianne Helton, Nakkita Arnett and freshmen Brook Carpenter, Jenna Johnson, and Holly Ward. The team is coached by Andrea Allen.
The team would like to send special thanks to all of those who supported them including: Magoffin County High School and the bleacher creatures, the Magoffin County Board of Education, Shaun Allen, and Appalachian Highwall Mining, who provided the transportation to the competition, and all of the fans and parents that attended the competition.
