BUCKLEYS CREEK - Magoffin County is poised to meet 13th Region title contender Harlan County in the Buffalo Wild Wings Shootout at Pike County Central in mid-December.

The Hornets' 2017-18 schedule has not yet been finalized and released. Magoffin County, however, is listed as facing Harlan County in a matchup set for the Buffalo Wild Wings Shootout on Saturday, Dec. 16.

The full Buffalo Wild Wings Shootout schedule is expected to be finalized and released soon.

Scott Castle is preparing to lead Magoffin County as its head coach. Previously, Castle guided the Magoffin County Lady Hornets.

Earlier in the offseason, Castle guided the Hornets to wins over Grundy (Va.), East Ridge, Pike County Central, Belfry and Jenkins.

Castle, who enjoyed a successful stint as the head coach of the Magoffin County Lady Hornets, is familiar with the returning Hornets.

Castle replaced Robbie Russell as the Hornets' head coach.

In five seasons as the Magoffin County boys' basketball head coach, Russell compiled a 75-67 overall record.

Russell replaced current Magoffin County Athletic Director Neil West as head coach of the Hornets in 2012.

Magoffin County's complete 2017-18 schedule will be finalized and released at a later date. The Hornets are slated to visit Floyd Central for a season opener on November 28.
