District judge to bust a move for the homeless
PRESTONSBURG - Supporting a good cause while having a few laughs may never be as easy as it will be this Friday.
In “Dancing with the Stars” style, the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg will be hosting a “Dancing for Shelter” event on November 2, featuring local civic, business and community leaders showcasing their best dance moves to put on a show for a great cause – to raise funds and awareness for the Floyd County Homeless Shelter.
The evening will consist of local stars from throughout Eastern Kentucky, including Magoffin’s own District Court Judge Dennis Prater, paired with professional dancers or dancing instructors to compete for awards, all while raising money through viewers’ votes.
In just one captivating night of fun and performances, Floyd County Homeless Shelter, Inc. will raise funds and awareness to help the homeless in and around the community. Once finished, this will be the closest homeless shelter to Magoffin County.
Community dancers will include: Prestonsburg Mayor Les Stapleton, Dr. Johanna “Bonnie” Hensley, Judge Tom Smith, Leslie Nelson, Judge Johnny Ray Harris, Nadina Maynard, Dr. Sherry Zylka, Bill Bettinazzi, Senator Johnny Ray Turner, Mary Slone, Master Commissioner Ashley Laferty, State Representative Larry Brown, Beth Ann Hall, Judge Dennis Prater, Susan Scott, Attorney Gary Johnson, Jennifer Hartsock, Dannette James, Willard Kinzer, Michael Huffman and Dr. Courtney Turner.
The Masters of Ceremonies will be Clayton Case and Gail Spradlin and the judges will be Freddie Goble, Jody Shepherd and Greg Stumbo.
The “Dancing for Shelter” event will be held November 2, 2018, at 7 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center. Tickets are officially sold out for the event.
