SALYERSVILLE - The Magoffin County Fiscal Court met briefly on Thursday for a special-called meeting, discussing the sheriff's settlement and taxes.

The Court accepted the sheriff's settlement, which was late this year since the school system had a delay. Judge Executive Dr. Charles Hardin said the grace period to receive  a discount to pay taxes will be extended one month, accordingly.

Portions of Charles Bailey Road and Donnie Hale Road were extended to be included in the county road system.

Hardin invited everyone to the Recycling Center on Halloween, October 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. for trick-or-treating. All candy was donated, he said, with no County money used.

Hardin commended Representative John Short, who attended the meeting.

"Many times Magoffin is accused of many things, but you can't get a better representative than John Short," Hardin said.
