Gibson crowned Miss Magoffin

The Miss Magoffin County Scholarship Pageant was held Monday, September 4 at the Prater’s Fort Cabin Complex in Salyersville.

The theme for this year’s pageant was “Solid Gold” and featured Miss Magoffin, the MCHS Dance Team, under the direction of Andrea Preston, and other local entertainers performing songs and skits. Emceeing the pageant was Magoffin County’s own Jim Caldwell, weatherman at WKYT-TV in Lexington. 

Four lovely young ladies competed for the title in Interview, Swimsuit, Talent and Evening Gown categories.  

Elivia Gibson, a 17-year-old senior at Magoffin County High School, was crowned Miss Magoffin 2017/2018. She is the daughter of Cathy Cantrell and Matthew Gibson. A senior at Magoffin County High School, she plans to attend Morehead State University. Her platform issue is “Breaking the Chains of Domestic Violence.” and for her talent, Elivia presented a lyrical dance. 

Gibson will advance to the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Pageant, a franchise of the Miss America Pageant, to be held in July 2018 in Lexington, KY.
