SALYERSVILLE - The Magoffin County Lady Hornets suffered a shutout loss to visiting Lawrence County earlier in the week as the Lady Bulldogs pulled away to win 3-0 in a high school volleyball match on Tuesday.
Magoffin County, however, continued to show much improvement. Lawrence County held on to win 25-17, 26-24, 28-26 over homestanding Magoffin County.
The Lady Hornets have one month-plus remaining in their regular-season. Longtime rivals Magoffin County, Johnson Central, Paintsville and Sheldon Clark will come together for the 57th District Volleyball Tournament in mid-October.
Magoffin County was scheduled to visit Johnson Central for a 57th District match on Wednesday. The Lady Hornets are slated to venture to Morgan County for a non-district match on Thursday.
Magoffin County is set to compete in the Paintsville Fall Classic on Saturday. In addition to Magoffin County and host Paintsville, the upcoming high school volleyball tournament will include Pikeville, East Ridge, Lawrence County, Russell and Perry County Central.
The Lady Hornets have additional regular-season matches remaining versus Pike County Central, Johnson Central, Bath County, Paintsville, Piarist School, Sheldon Clark, Jackson City, Shelby Valley, Morgan County, Lawrence County and Prestonsburg.
