Hornets to meet Paintsville in district baseball tournament

PAINTSVILLE - Number two seed Magoffin County will face third-seeded Paintsville at Johnson Central on May 23 as the two familiar foes meet in the nightcap of the 57th District Baseball Tournament's initial round.
Pairings for the 57th District Baseball Tournament were released earlier in the week.
First pitch for the Magoffin County-Paintsville game is set for 7:30 p.m.
Johnson Central earned the top seed for the 57th District Baseball Tournament. Tournament host Johnson Central will face fourth-seeded Sheldon Clark at 5:30 p.m. in the district baseball tournament's opener. 
The championship game of the 57th District Baseball Tournament is set for 7 p.m. on May 25.
Magoffin County and Paintsville split their regular-season 57th District baseball series. The Hornets defeated Paintsville 16-10 in a high-scoring high school baseball affair on April 20, one day after the Tigers had escaped with a 3-1 win. 
Both the champion and runner-up from the 57th District will advance to the 15th Region Baseball Tournament.
