Howard takes over Pikeville softball program
PIKEVILLE - Magoffin County High School graduate Brandi Jo Howard is poised to guide the defending 15th Region softball champion. On Thursday, Pikeville High School introduced Howard as its new head coach.
Howard is making the move to Pikeville High School from the upstart Floyd Central Middle School softball team. Howard guided the Floyd Central Middle School softball squad in its debut campaign.
Prior to coaching the Lady Jaguars, Howard was a graduate assistant at the University of Pikeville.
Howard played softball for the University of Pikeville from 2011-15. The Magoffin County High School product excelled during her college career.
Before taking the field at UPIKE, Howard was a standout prep player at Magoffin County High School. She was a Class A First Team All-State selection.
Howard replaces Dave Thomas, a veteran coach who guided the Lady Panthers to a 15th Region championship, a state tournament appearance and a 31-11 record earlier in the year.
