SALYERSVILLE - Making its September debut, Magoffin County came up short in a home match versus Wolfe County on Tuesday. Visiting Wolfe County, a team from the neighboring 14th Region and a familiar foe, managed to defeat Magoffin County 2-0 in the high school volleyball match.
The Lady Wolves notched their fifth straight win. Wolfe County’s current win streak includes additional wins over Lee County, June Buchanan and Morgan County. The Lady Wolves have defeated June Buchanan twice thus far in the 2014 season.
With the loss, Magoffin County fell to 0-5.
After posting the win, Wolfe County improved to 5-1.
The Lady Hornets have dropped additional matches to Breathitt County, Prestonsburg, Johnson Central and Jackson City.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host Sheldon Clark for a 57th District match on Monday (Sept. 8). Sheldon Clark owned a 2-3 record through its first five matches.
The Lady Hornets have other regular-season matches remaining against Sheldon Clark, Piarist School, Pike County Central, Jackson City, Johnson Central, Lawrence County, Paintsville, Estill County, Morgan County, Wolfe County and Breathitt County.
Magoffin County is 0-1 in 57th District competition.
