Lady Hornets drop matches to Johnson Central, Jackson City

SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County dropped high school volleyball matches to Johnson Central and Jackson City earlier in the week. 

Host Johnson Central shut out the Lady Hornets 3-0 in a 57th District volleyball match on Monday. Johnson Central prevailed 25-20, 25-7, 25-21 over Magoffin County in the 57th District match.

The setback to Johnson Central left Magoffin County 0-6 in the 57th District. 

Forcing Magoffin County to remain in the loss column one day later, Jackson City blanked the Lady Hornets 3-0 on Tuesday. Jackson City prevailed 25-12, 25-17, 25-11 over Magoffin County in a non-district volleyball match.

Following the loss to Jackson City, Magoffin County dropped to 2-18 overall. The Lady Hornets posted back-to-back wins over 14th Region members Buckhorn and June Buchanan in early-September. 

At press time on Wednesday, Magoffin County was visiting 15th Region Shelby Valley for a regular-season finale in Pike County. Magoffin County is poised to compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Hornets are under the direction of head coach Kelsey Salyer.
