Lady Hornets fall to Paintsville in 57th District Tournament

INEZ - Magoffin County's season ended in the opening round of the 57th District Volleyball Tournament. Longtime rival Paintsville eliminated Magoffin County from the postseason, shutting out the Lady Hornets 3-0 in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament Semifinals at Sheldon Clark on Tuesday.

With the loss, Magoffin County ended its 2018 season 2-20.

Reigning champion Paintsville improved to 31-3 with the win.

The Lady Hornets were limited throughout the district tournament match. Paintsville pulled away to win 25-4, 25-7, 25-7 in the postseason contest. 

The victory allowed Paintsville to advance to the 57th District title match and qualify for the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament. 

In the nightcap on Tuesday, Johnson Central shut out tournament host Sheldon Clark 3-0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-18).

Magoffin County showed much improvement throughout the 2018 high school volleyball season. The Lady Hornets will return to the court for the 2019 season in August.
