Lady Hornets suffer shutout loss to Floyd Central

EASTERN - The Magoffin County Lady Hornets remained in the loss column earlier in the week. Host Floyd Central pulled away to shut out the Lady Hornets 3-0 in a non-district high school volleyball match on Monday. 

With the loss, Magoffin County stumbled to 0-8.

Floyd Central improved to 10-4 with the win.   

Dominating, Floyd Central downed visiting Magoffin County 25-12, 25-6, 25-11 in the non-district match between newfound 15th Region rivals.

Magoffin County ventured to Floyd County after hosting Jackson City and Sheldon Clark in back-to-back home matches. 

Rebuilding Magoffin County is scheduled to visit neighboring rival Morgan County on Thursday. 

The Lady Hornets are slated to compete in the Buffalo Wild Wings September Slam at Floyd Central on Saturday. Along with Magoffin County and host Floyd Central, the Buffalo Wild Wings September Slam will include Johnson Central, Shelby Valley, Ashland Blazer, Raceland, Phelps and Letcher County Central. 

Magoffin County has additional regular-season matches remaining versus Pike County Central, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Johnson Central, Jackson City, Lawrence County, Sheldon Clark and Morgan County. 

Currently, Magoffin County is 0-2 in the 57th District. The Lady Hornets will compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament in October.
