MAGOFFIN – Two were injured in separate lawn mower accidents this week, with both taken to local hospitals.

On Monday, August 20, before noon, rescue crews were dispatched to Howard Branch on Burning Fork.

According to rescue officials, a 20-year-old male had been cutting grass with a push lawn mower when his foot slipped in the damp grass and under the mower.

He suffered severe injuries to his foot and was airlifted to Pikeville Medical Center.

Then, on Tuesday, August 21, crews were called to Improvement Road/Rockhouse, where an elderly man in his mid-90s had been injured after jumping from a riding mower to avoid going over an embankment. He reportedly went approximately 30 feet over the hill.

Weather prevented airlifting, so he was transported to Morgan County ARH.

The condition of both are unknown at press time.
