Shawn Matthew Davis, son of Ann and Raymond Jr. Gibson, of Salyersville, recently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program. This program allows prospective recruits the opportunity to get personal affairs in order, and become better physically and mentally prepared before departing for Recruit Training.

During recruit training, Shawn will learn military customs and courtesies, first aid and a variety of military related subjects.
Marine Corps “boot camp” is a rigorous training period, both physically and mentally, designed to enhance raw talent and create the moral discipline required of all Marines.
After graduation, new Marines learn their occupation specialties at formal schools and gain further knowledge from on-the-job training. Shawn has decided to enlist under the Legal Administration Option.
Shawn was enlisted by Gunnery Sergeant James H. Kirk from Recruiting Station Paintsville, located at 435 N Mayo Trail, Paintsville. For more information, call (606)788-9361.
