PRESTONSBURG – Salyersville artist Jessica Salyer is set to have her first ever solo exhibition at City Perk Coffeehouse on Saturday, June 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. All are welcome to this free event. Drinks and refreshments will be served.

Entitled "Internal Universe" is a collection of work created with spray paint and her own scratching method that is colorful and expressive. The artist explains is meant to represent "internal workings of emotions, thoughts, and questions I ask myself all the time" with the pieces being "a combination of spiritual and universal tones that ask an underlying question".

A wife and mother of three, Salyer has lived in Salyersville most of her life and identifies as an Automatic Artist. When asked about her process, Salyer said "an artist starts with no sketch or plan before creating their work. Automatic painters allow the work to flow naturally out of their subconscious."

Salyer is also a member of the Kentucky Art Tribe and part of the Weird Appalachia Podcast.
