Magoffin County to compete in inaugural Lady Jaguar Invitational

SALYERVILLE- Magoffin County is scheduled to compete in the inaugural Lady Jaguar Invitational at Floyd Central High School in December. But before then, the Lady Hornets are due to visit Floyd Central for a girls' high school basketball season opener November 26.

Teams from several regions will make up the field for the Floyd Central-hosted girls' high school basketball tournament. The Lady Jaguar Invitational is slated for Dec. 20-22. Magoffin County's opponents during the girls' high school basketball tournament will be Lewis County, Montgomery County and host Floyd Central.

The Lady Hornets concluded the 2017-18 season 4-25. Magoffin County lost to eventual champion Johnson Central in the opening round of the 57th District Girls' Basketball Tournament. 

Senior point guard Kennedi Stacy is poised to lead the Lady Hornets. Stacy ranks as one the top girls' basketball players in the 15th Region.

Magoffin County lost longtime leader Alexis Montgomery to graduation. Montgomery and Stacy combined to make a talented tandem for Magoffin County during multiple seasons. 

Justin Williams is preparing to guide the Magoffin County girls' basketball team in his first season as the squad's head coach. Williams replaced Doug Greene on the Magoffin County girls' basketball bench. The Lady Hornets will open preseason practice in mid-October.
