Magoffin County drops district match to Sheldon Clark

INEZ - After opening the 2018 high school volleyball season with back-to-back losses, Magoffin County dropped a 57th District match on the road earlier in the week. Host Sheldon Clark shut out the Lady Hornets 3-0 on Monday.

Familiar foes, Magoffin County and Sheldon Clark are longtime 57th District rivals. 

The victory allowed Sheldon Clark to halt a five-match losing skid.  

With the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the 57th District.

Sheldon Clark improved to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the district with the win. 

The Lady Hornets pushed Sheldon Clark throughout the match. But the Lady Cardinals were determined to notch the early-season district win.

Sheldon Clark won the opening game 25-16.

Winning via the exact score, Sheldon Clark prevailed 25-16  in the second game. 

Persevering late, Sheldon Clark held on to win 25-20 over Magoffin County in the decisive third game.

The Lady Hornets are scheduled to visit Sheldon Clark for another 57th District volleyball match on September 25. 

Both Magoffin County and Sheldon Clark will compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament in October.
