SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County (6-5) is picked to finish second in The Cats' Pause 2014 Kentucky Football Yearbook's Class 3A, District 7 Preview. The Hornets finished runner-up to preseason favorite Breathitt County (7-5) in 2013. Magoffin County is listed ahead of Morgan County (4-7), Jackson County (6-5) and Knott County Central (4-6) in the rankings, which were published last week.

The Hornets flirted with winning the 2013 Class 3A, District 7 title. Breathitt County prevented Magoffin County from winning the district championship, defeating the Hornets 55-49 in a regular-season shootout.
