SALYERSVILLE - Another Class 3A, District 7 game awaits the Magoffin County Hornets. Following a 10-point loss to rival Morgan County, Magoffin County will visit Knott County Central for a Class 3A, District 7 game on Thursday night.
Magoffin County is 2-5 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 7. The Hornets, under the direction of head coach Justin Combs, have posted wins over East Ridge and Betsy Layne while dropping games to East Carter, Lawrence County, Harlan, Powell County and Morgan County.
Through seven games, opponents have outscored the Hornets 229-195. However, Magoffin County has fared well offensively throughout the 2018 high school football season.
Magoffin County rushed 191 times for 1,682 yards and 15 touchdowns in its first six games. Also faring well through the air, Magoffin County picked up 433 passing yards during the same stretch.
Running back Brady Whitaker rushed 73 times for 790 yards and seven touchdowns in the Hornets' first six games.
Knott County Central is 1-5 overall and 0-1 in Class 3A, District 7. The Patriots have notched a win over Sheldon Clark while suffering losses to Lynn Camp, Perry County Central, Shelby Valley, Breathitt County and Powell County.
Running back Ty Hollon leads the Patriots. Hollon rushed 87 times for 380 yards and five touchdowns for Knott County Central during the first half of the season.
Opponents have outscored Knott County Central 222-75.

Knott County Central pulled away to defeat Magoffin County convincingly during the 2017 season, winning 47-12. Magoffin County was an injury-plagued team when it hosted Knott County Central in 2017.
