A Magoffin County man was seriously injured Thursday, August 5 when he lost control of his pickup truck and hit a rock cliff, flipping the vehicle twice before coming to rest.
Garland Lovely, of Gun Creek, was traveling east on Route 114 when he lost control. He received serious injuries and was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
After inspecting his injuries, they found that Lovely had a mass on his brain, which is the probable cause of the wreck.
Doctors operated on the mass at St. Mary’s Hospital Tuesday, August 10. He is currently in the ICU and they are waiting to see how he recovers. He is a little awake and somewhat oriented, which is better than expected for that surgery.
DHP Ambulance, the Magoffin County Rescue Squad and members of the Magoffin County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene.
