PLEASANT HILL – A Magoffin County man was arrested after a two-vehicle collision on Sunday.

Eye witnesses told police they saw the car, driven by Randall Cody Barnett, 26, of Salyersville, swerving all over the road for miles.

Barnett collided with a truck, driven by Thomas Howard, in a curve at Pleasant Hill on US 460 West.

Howard told police he tried to miss Barnett, getting in the ditch line to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful.

The occupants of Howard’s truck refused treatment at the scene, but Barnett was transported to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center to be medically cleared, then was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he remains at press time on a $10,000 cash bond.

He is currently charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence (aggravated circumstance), third offense (a Class A misdemeanor); failure of owner to maintain required insurance (Class B misdemeanor); operating a motor vehicle with expired operator’s license (Class B misdemeanor); and no/expired Kentucky registration receipt (violation).
