MAGOFFIN – A registered sex offender was picked up by Kentucky State Police last Thursday in Magoffin for a Floyd County case revolving around more sex crimes involving a minor.
KSP arrested Ronald Collins, 47, of Trace Fork, in Magoffin, on a sealed indictment from Floyd County. While details of the case are still unknown, according to arrest records, he was indicted on first-degree sexual abuse, victim under 12 years of age; first-degree sodomy, victim under 12 years old; and persistent felony offender.
Collins was arrested and taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on October 4, then transferred to the Floyd County Detention Center. According to jail records, he was released from the Floyd County jail on Tuesday, October 9. No information is available regarding any upcoming court dates.
He was already a registered sex offender as a result of a separate Floyd County case, in which he was sentenced to 5 years for first-degree sexual abuse (victim 11 years old), though he only had to serve 1 ½ years in that case.
