SALYERSVILLE - One man was injured in an ATV accident Saturday evening on Lacey Creek.
Magoffin County Rescue Squad and Transtar were dispatched to the ridge line off of Lacey at approximately 8 p.m. July 12.
Jerry Montgomery was going up an incline when his brakes failed, according to rescue officials. He gave the ATV gas, which caused it to flipped backward onto him.
Crews were told he was unconscious for a period of time. Carison Slone, who was with Montgomery when he wrecked, noticed he was turning blue and opened his mouth to check for an obstruction. His tongue had fell backward, blocking airflow, so Slone pulled it back out and Montgomery started breathing on his own, again.
When North Magoffin Fire Department arrived, the people with Montgomery had brought him off the hill and he was sitting in a truck.
Paramedics assessed Montgomery and he was flown to Pikeville Medical Center.
Montgomery's arm was broken in two places, he suffered some bleeding on the brain, as well as a laceration above his eye. He was released from the hospital on Monday.
Magoffin County Rescue Squad, North Magoffin Fire Department and Transtar responded to the scene.
