NARCOTICS BUST

SALYERSVILLE – A traffic stop for expired tags netted three drug trafficking-related arrests on Tuesday.

Magoffin County Sheriff Department Detective Neil Adams pulled over the black GMC in IGA’s parking lot on Tuesday, April 11 at approximately 3 p.m., according to the arrest citations.

The operator of the vehicle, Carlos E. Dobson, 37, of Hazard, reportedly had an active warrant. 

Upon searching the vehicle, Adams reported finding 10 yellow pills suspected to be Percocets, approximately 47 grams of suspected methamphetamine, an estimated 2.5 or 3 grams of suspected cocaine, two digital scales, numerous syringes, straws and plastic bags generally used for narcotics.

Dobson also allegedly had $466 in cash, as well. He told police that none of the narcotics were his.

Shannon P. Price, 36, of Paintsville, was the front passenger of the vehicle. According to the police report, Price allegedly had a .25 caliber handgun in his back pocket. He also had $466 on him, as well. Price told police the narcotics were not his, either.

Candi L. Price, 45, of Nippa, is reportedly the owner of the vehicle. She told police she was only letting the others use her vehicle, and that she had no knowledge of the illegal narcotics. 

The three were arrested and taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where at press time they are currently held.

Dobson is facing the following charges: first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (unspecified – 10 Percocets), a Class C felony; first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, 2 grams or more), a Class C felony; first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), a Class D felony; six counts of drug paraphernalia buy/possess, a Class A misdemeanor; expired registration plates, a violation; expired registration receipt, a violation; and controlled substance prescription not in original container, a Class B misdemeanor.  

Shannon Price is currently charged with first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (unspecified – 10 Percocets), a Class C felony; first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, 2 grams or more), a Class C felony; first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), a Class D felony; six counts of drug paraphernalia buy/possess, a Class A misdemeanor; controlled substance prescription not in original container, a Class B misdemeanor; and carrying a concealed deadly weapon, a Class A misdemeanor.  

Candi Price is also facing the following charges: first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (unspecified – 10 Percocets), a Class C felony; first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, 2 grams or more), a Class C felony; first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), a Class D felony; six counts of drug paraphernalia buy/possess, a Class A misdemeanor; expired registration plates, a violation; expired registration receipt, a violation; and controlled substance prescription not in original container, a Class B misdemeanor.  

All three are being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
