Joe Bolton (left) presented a mounted bobcat and football to Brent Patrick Friday in the deed room of the Magoffin County Clerk’s Office. Patrick, of Magoffin County, purchased the winning ticket at the local clerk’s office.
The cat and football were raffled off as a fundraising effort for the East Kentucky Veterans’ Center in Hazard and HOPE for Tomorrow, a veteran supported program. County clerks across Kentucky supported the effort, which sold 1,200 tickets. The bobcat was killed and made available by Letcher County Clerk Winston Meade. Also pictured are Ruth “Tootsie” Bailey, Patrick’s grandmother, and Magoffin clerk Renee Arnett Shepherd. Patrick dedicated the presentation and win to the memory to his grandfather, Arthur Bailey, a WWII veteran who passed away three years ago.
