MIDDLE FORK - Sparks flew at the Middle Fork Volunteer Fire Department fundraising auction on Saturday as political candidates addressed those in attendance.

Democratic candidates for Magoffin County judge executive stepped up to the microphone when given the opportunity before the auction began, with a debate erupting after individual donations were made to the fire department.

Primarily, the focus of the impromptu debate fell between democratic candidates Hayden Bryan (H.B) Arnett and Charles "Doc" Hardin.

When reached for comment about the event, Arnett told the Independent he hopes the public takes away the following: "If you want to vote for the common man, vote for me, but if are for the rich man, vote for Doc."

Hardin told the Independent the two have not actually had a debate, yet, but he would be extremely interested in attending a public debate with all the candidates to discuss important issues.

Both Arnett and Hardin said they feel they have been very well supported by the community this election season.

At this time, no public debate has been scheduled.
