Magoffin County’s version of Relay for Life will be held Friday night and Saturday morning at North Magoffin Elementary.
A registration for cancer survivors will be held at 5:00 p.m. with the event starting at 6:00 p.m.
Organizers of Relay for Life, a main fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, are inviting the public to attend regardless of whether they are members of walking or fundraising teams.

The event will have 13 walking or relay teams and two teams of fundraisers, and will feature games for young and old, plenty of entertainment, and a wide variety of food.

Money generated by Relay for Life will go toward the American Cancer Society for research and other cancer-related assistance.
Portions of the funding will be directed to Hope Lodge, which gives free housing to families of cancer patients currently receiving treatment in the Lexington area.
Also, money is also provided to local cancer support programs to provide area patients free wigs, prosthetics, and look good-feel better treatment.
Relay for Life will run from Friday at 6:00 p.m. until Saturday at 6:00 a.m.
Anyone wishing to donate to the cancer research and assistance effort may do so during Relay for Life. Cash is acceptable and checks can be made out to the American Cancer Society.
Anyone unable to attend this weekend’s event can make donations throughout the year by calling Francis Crace at 349-3881.
The Miss Magoffin and Miss Teen Magoffin committees is one of the teams that will be participating in the Relay for Life.
The team is called "Crowns for a Cure" and all former Miss Teen and former Miss Magoffin County titleholders are urged to participate in the effort to raise money for cancer research.
All formers will need to bring their crowns and the team will provide sashes, including name and year of service.
