SALYERSVILLE - Kennedi Stacy and Alexis Montgomery combined to score 55 points as Magoffin County defeated visiting Morgan County 61-47 in a late-season girls' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
The win allowed Magoffin County to improve to 8-16.
Morgan County dropped to 9-15 with the loss.
Stacy led Magoffin County with a game-high 31 points. Accompanying Stacy in double figures, Montgomery posted 24 points. Both Stacy and Montgomery drained a trio of 3-point field goals in the Lady Hornets' win.
Magoffin County shot 44.2 percent (19-of-43) from the field. The Lady Hornets were 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) from 3-point range, faring even better beyond the arc.
Magoffin County shot 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from the free throw line.
Host Magoffin County claimed its second straight win.
The Lady Hornets were able to pull away and win comfortably over Morgan County, a longtime border rival.
Kenlee Wireman netted four points and Presley Russell chipped in two points for the Lady Hornets.
Stacy paced Magoffin County on the backboards, grabbing seven rebounds.
Haley Barnett, Kaelyn Greene, Destiny Conley and Shanna Howard also contributed to the Lady Hornets' victory.
Morgan County dropped into the loss column after claiming back-to-back wins.
