SALYERSVILLE – Three were arrested last week in relation to an alleged theft of a gun.
According to arrest warrants issued on January 25, the victim told police that his .22 handgun with white handles had been stolen and that Mack Manns, 36, of HC 60, Salyersville, had been staying at his residence during the time the gun went missing.
Magoffin County Sheriff Department Detective Neil Adams received a tip of where the gun was located, speaking to Patricia Back, 50, of Salyersville, at her residence. She told police that Mitchell Shepherd, 28, of Middle Fork Road, Salyersville, had the gun that fit the description of the stolen firearm and that he had received it from Manns.
Back brought the gun she said she received from Shepherd to police and it matched the victim’s description of the stolen gun, according to the warrants.
Manns was arrested on January 25 and charged with one count of receiving stolen property (firearm), a Class D felony. He is currently being housed at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
On January 28, Back and Shepherd were also arrested on the same charge. Both were housed and released from the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, pending future court dates.
