BEE TREE – The death investigation is still pending regarding the woman that was found last week in the Bee Tree area of Magoffin.

Magoffin County Coroner Mark Jenkins told Mortimer Media Group that they are still early into the investigation and not able to release any preliminary data in the case.

On Tuesday, July 31, the body of Janel Salyer, age 40, was found at a strip mine on Bee Tree by members of her family.

An autopsy was performed last week, and as of Thursday, August 2, they were still conducting interviews and asking for tips from anyone that may have seen anything, Jenkins said.

“We’re still early in the investigating and it’s a very active investigation. We’re not ruling or saying either way and we’re still open to all possibilities,” Jenkins told Mortimer Media Group.
