A car flipped on its top Saturday morning, October 11, sending one man to the hospital. Officials tell the Independent the mother and son from Lee City, no names identified, were traveling toward Lee City from Salyersville when they lost control of the vehicle, scraped a red truck, and hit the bridge, ripping off the front right tire and flipping the car. Both were out of the vehicle when crews arrived. The son, who reportedly had been in a serious wreck six weeks ago, was taken to Morgan County ARH by Transtar. Magoffin County Rescue Squad and Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office responded. Magoffin County Rescue Squad Captain Carter Conley said crews have seen more potentially serious wrecks in that curve recently, located 1 1/2 miles past the Johnson Fork exit heading west.
