Leatha Penix Elkins 87, Warren, MI, died April 11, 2018, in St John’s Macomb Hospital.
She was born on August 28, 1930 in Royalton, Kentucky to the late Tilden & Doscie (Salyers) Penix.
Leatha retired from Baxter International, Inc. in Round Lake, IL.
She enjoyed crafts, gardening, spending time with family, vacations, making others laugh & teaching Sunday School. Leatha was known for her compassion for others, her giving spirit, her faith and her sense of humor.
Leatha is survived by her daughters, Deborah Kay Ross (Bolivar, MO); & Barbara Sue Werry (Warren, MI); five grandchildren: Robert Ross, Jr. (Bolivar, MO), Shawn Ross (Fair Play, MO), Shonda Kalra (Washington, D.C.), Dustin Ross (Bolivar, MO), & Ashley Schaeffer (Warren, MI) and several great grandchildren.
She is survived by one sister, Alka Taylor (Popular Grove, IL); two brothers, Marvin Penix (Crown Point, IN), & Kenneth Penix (Salyersville, KY).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Elkins; four sisters: Marie Caudill, Beulah Lovely, Ethel Mae Williams & Edizine Penix, brothers: Earl Penix, Ernst Penix & Fraklin Penix
Funeral services were held Monday, April 16th at 10:00 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, followed by graveside burial in Oakland Cemetery.
