William Travis Lunsford
Mr. William Travis Lunsford, 73, of Sadieville, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. He was born on October 2, 1944 in Magoffin County Kentucky to Jewel May Lunsford and the late Rev. Robert Bruce Lunsford, Sr. Mr. Lunsford was a retired General Foreman and Supervisor for Cravens & Cravens General Contracting, was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Viney Fork Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mr Lunsford attended grade school and high school in Salyersville and grew up on the Amazon River in Brazil and Peru as the son of a Baptist Missionary.
In addition to his 93 year old mother Jewel, he is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Shirley Lakes Lunsford; two daughters, Kelly Lunsford Smith and Heather Lunsford Rice; two brothers, Robert Bruce “Bob” Lunsford, Jr., (Lovely) and Rev. James Lunsford (Belinda); two sisters, Ava Lynn McClellan and Darly Alves Defreitas (Andy); four grandchildren, Sam Smith, Travis Smith (Amber), Zachary Smith and Skyler Rice; two great-grandchildren, Landon Smith and Wyatt Smith; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Monday, March 19, 2018, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Rev. Harry Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Viney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Sam Smith, Travis Smith, Zachary Smith, Skyler Rice, Mark Rice, David Kirby and William Kirby. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Green and Ronnie Colbenson.
