Johnie Shepherd, 88, Silver Lake, IN died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN.  He was born May 19, 1924 in Magoffin County, KY to Frank & Ella Mae (Wireman) Shepherd who preceded him in death.  On June 15, 1957 he married Jackelene Warrix, who survives.  He worked at Da-Lite Screen, Warsaw, IN for 28 years retiring in 1986.  Johnie served in the US Marines in the South Pacific 1943-1946.  He was a member of Warsaw American Legion Post #49, a life member of the First Marine Division Association and attended Akron Church of God, Akron, IN.  He loved outdoors, mushroom hunting, gardening and enjoyed small town festivals and Friday Night Jams at Akron, IN.  Also surviving are two sons, Johnie Wayne (Sandra) Shepherd, Silver Lake, IN and James Cephus Shepherd, Warsaw, IN; three brothers: Chester Shepherd, Silver Lake, IN, Joe Shepherd, Silver Lake, IN and Jeff (Vicki) Shepherd, North Webster, IN; four sisters: Mrs. Cecil (Ocie) Shumaker, Akron, IN, Cynthia Harmon, Wabash, IN, Mrs. Junior (Thelma) Jackson, North Manchester, IN and Mrs. Gary (Avenell) Smith, Akron, IN and four grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.  Services were held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 9, 2012 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Johnie Shepherd, memorial contributions may be made to Akron Church of God, 301 S.
