SALYERSVILLE - The Magoffin County Hornets notched their fourth straight win on Thursday (April 10), toppling the visiting Breathitt County Bobcats 16-4 in five innings. Magoffin County, under the direction of coach Steve Miller, pulled away to win easily.
The Hornets posted their second win over Breathitt County in the 2014 season. Earlier in the season, Magoffin County beat Breathitt County 16-3. The first meeting between the two teams in the 2014 campaign took place on March 28. Magoffin County also owns wins over Lee County and Jackson City.
Prior to posting the second win over Breathitt County, the Hornets had suffered losses to Pikeville and Lawrence County. Longtime rival Lawrence County swept the Hornets in a 57th District doubleheader earlier in the season.

Magoffin County 5, Jackson City 4: Magoffin County scored a run in the top half of the ninth inning to edge host Jackson City 5-4 in nine innings on Saturday, April 5.
Three Magoffin County pitchers worked two or more innings. Tyler Fitzpatrick struck out three in five innings for the Magoffin County baseball team. Jaren Lovely and Chance Allen registered one strikeout apiece in two innings each for the Hornets.
At the plate, Lovely and Austin Collins delivered three hits apiece. Lovely smacked two doubles and recorded a pair of RBIs for the Hornets in the thrilling victory.
Allen went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Cody Bailey, Dillon Williams and Ryan Mullins each had a double for Magoffin County in the hard-fought win.
The Hornets are scheduled to host Jackson City on May 12.
