CRESTVIEW HILLS - Magoffin County High School senior Jamie Castle started at point guard for the Kentucky team in the 23rd annual Ohio-Kentucky Girls' All-Star Basketball Game at Thomas More College on Saturday. Kentucky, thanks in part to the leadership of Castle, carried a four-point lead into halftime. Ohio, however, managed to pull away to win 114-91.
The Ohio squad dominated throughout the second half. Thriving after intermission, Ohio outscored Kentucky 72-45 in the second half.
Castle, who also attended tryouts for the Kentucky-Indiana series over the weekend, scored four points for the Kentucky team in the loss.
The talent-heavy Ohio team had players who were committed to Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue, Indiana and Oklahoma.
Perry County Central standout Kayla Rankin scored 15 points and was named the Kentucky MVP. Boyle County's Devin Conley connected on four 3-pointers and added 13 points for the Kentucky team in the victory.
Kentucky Miss Basketball Ivy Brown did not play due to prior commitments.
