SALYERSVILLE - One man was injured last Wednesday night when the rock truck he was operating turned over.

On August 20 at roughly 9:30 p.m. Jeff Mullins was doing back fill at a site on Oakley, when he backed up to the edge of a high wall, which gave way. The rock truck flipped over on its top, landing well below where he had been working, officials say.

In order for rescue crews to get to the jobsite Mullins was working on, minor road work had to be performed. Mullins was out of the vehicle when crews arrived. Paramedics assessed his injuries and they tried to have him flown out, but no helicopters were available, so he was taken to Paul B. Hall by Transtar, then transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

When updated last, rescue officials say Mullins had sustained five fractured vertebrates and one broken rib.

Magoffin County Rescue Squad, Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office and Transtar responded to the scene.
