On Friday, April 8th, the fifth grade class of North Magoffin Elementary visited the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History and Kentucky’s State Capitol in Frankfort.  While at the museum, students took a walk through historical periods of KY’s past viewing primary sources and interactive displays. At the State Capitol, students were introduced to and met with State Representative John Short who represents Magoffin County and the 92nd District. A guided tour of the capitol was enjoyed by students as they were given many details and facts about the construction and design of the capitol building, the three branches of state government and the five famous statues located in the capitol rotunda. To top off the day, the class enjoyed a delicious meal at Logan’s Roadhouse in Lexington, KY. Students and staff would like to thank NME Principal Mrs. Jill Howard and the Magoffin County Board of Education for allowing them to enjoy such a wonderful and educational experience.
