SALYERSVILLE – The Magoffin County Fiscal Court met briefly on Friday, awarding a bid for the dump cleanup project.

The week prior, in the October 20 meeting, the court discussed how to proceed with the dump bids, where they had received two bids, the lowest of which did not include an explanation of the scope of the work.

County Attorney Greg Allen advised them in that meeting that they cannot accept changes to the bids and they can only take the lowest bid on the project, or reject all bids.

They were unable to come to an agreement on October 20, so the court met, again, on Friday, October 27 to revisit the project.

Magistrate Matthew Wireman motioned to accept the low bid on the project from Ranger Contracting with the specification that if Ranger is not able to complete the full scope of the contract, the project would go to the next-lowest bid, from L & L Excavating. The motion passed unanimously.

The Magoffin County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5 p.m. in the Magoffin County Fiscal Court room in the courthouse. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the November meeting is expected to be rescheduled.
