John T. "J.T." Lykins age 91 of Patrick Drive, Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday morning, May 13, 2018 at his home. He was born March 24, 1927 in Stella, Kentucky to the late Harrison and Nola Dunn Lykins. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Arnett Lykins, whom he married December 21, 1955.
Survivors also include three sons, Jeffory (Charlena) Lykins, Ralph Jay Lykins, and John Timothy (Sandi) Lykins all of Salyersville, Kentucky, three daughters, Nola Anne (Wayne) Johnson and Sally (Marty) Minix both of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Licia "Lucy" (Phillip Byrd) Lykins of West Liberty, Kentucky, one brother, Harold Lykins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one sister, Nola Mae Lykins of Cincinnati, Ohio. Fourteen grandchildren, Holly (Greg) Cummings, Joshua (Lorna) Minix, Megan (Davie) Lyons, Abby Coffey, Jessica Lykins, Zach (Whitney) Donta, John Tyler Lykins, Madison Claire (Justin) Ratliff, Josey Lykins, Jase Brady Lykins, Ginessa Shivley, Jenny Valition, Katie Lykins, and Lizzy Lykins, and eleven great grandchildren, Olivia Puckett, Riley Minix, Mila Minix, Chandler Cummings, Demi Minix, Millie Donta, Tristan Coffey, Robbie Shivley, Johnathan Shivley, Mayley Shivley, and Brantly Valition also survive.
J.T. served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Salyersville D.A.V. Chapter 15.
In addition to his parents, J.T. is preceded in death by one son, Gary Edgar Lykins, one infant daughter, Jaietta Lykins, three brothers, Arthur Lykins, Woodford Lykins, and James Lykins, and one sister, Margie Miller.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 pm Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Arbadella Reed officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville, Kentucky..
Military rites were given by the Salyersville D.A.V. Chapter 15 the day of services.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
