Howard Hensley age 85 of Lacey Creek Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was born February 2, 1930 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Mae Lyon Hensley. Howard was a former County Court Clerk in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was the husband of Mella “Dot” Isaac Hensley, who preceded him in death.
Rocky Lane Jenkins age 63 of Pricey Creek Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his home. Rocky was born November 3, 1951 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Garland Jenkins and Betty Helton Jenkins who survives. Rocky was a retired Coal Miner and an employee of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
Lowell Arnett Sr., age 68, a resident of East Mountain Parkway in Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Arnett was born June 13, 1947 in Royalton, Kentucky the son of the late Owren and Anna Howard Arnett. Also, preceding him in death is brother, Paul Edward Arnett; and sister, Maetta Faye Shepherd.
Mr. Arnett was employed as an electrician with IBEW Loral Union #0183 until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and National Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Jessie Jo Mann Reed of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Morgan County ARH, at the age of 103 years, 8 months, and 3 days. She was born Sunday, October 15, 1911, at Harper, KY, daughter of the late Thomas Bentley Mann & Laura Harper Mann Whitt.
Jessie was united in marriage to Birch Reed. This union was blessed with seven children, Jack, Beachie, Betty, Emily, JoAnn, Pam, and Tommy. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She was a Christian and attended the Bethany Baptist Church as her health permitted.
Ernest Ray Taulbee, age 70, a resident of Rt. 30 in Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Taulbee was born March 12, 1945 in LaPorte, Indiana the son of the late Willie Gordon and Mollie Smith Taulbee. Also, preceding him in death is one sister, Erna Jean Taulbee; and brother, Charles Patrick Taulbee.
Virginia Rose Gipson Perkins age 77 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her home. She was born September 28, 1937 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Dewey and Viola Joseph Gipson. She was the wife of Forrest “JR” Perkins, who survives. Survivors also include four sons; Carl Ray Perkins, Billy Joe Perkins, James Phillip Perkins and Benny Dewey Perkins all of Salyersville, Kentucky, four daughters; Judy Ann Roberts, Wilma Jean Cole, Sandra Kay Saylor and Barbara Gail Saylor all of Salyersville, Kentucky, two brothers, Charles D.
Louise Blanton, age 90, a resident of Dayton, Ohio; formerly of Tick Lick in Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2015 at Dayton Hospice Care Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Ms. Blanton was born December 25, 1924 in Salyersville, Kentucky the daughter of the late Grover and Cynthia Blanton-Blanton. Also, preceding her in death is son, Gary Blanton; sisters, Margie Conley, Lexi Gullett; and brothers, Edgar Blanton, Hassel Blanton, Oakley Blanton, and Dannie Blanton.
Ms. Blanton was a homemaker and devoted mother, family member, and friend.
Simon Porter, age 70, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Mr. Porter was born October 24, 1944 in Royalton, Kentucky the son of the late Adam and Jesse Rowe Porter. Also, preceding him in death are brothers, Henry, Paul Porter, and sisters, Alice Joseph, Beck Slusher.
Mr. Porter was employed in the coal industry until his retirement. However, he served the Lord and ministered the Gun Creek United Baptist Church in Gun Creek, Kentucky for over thirty years until his death.
Edgar “EJ” Gamble, Jr. age 22 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was born October 23, 1992 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Edgar and Patricia Adams Gamble, who survive. He was the fiancé of Alyssa Kennard, who also survives.
Emma Lela Rigsby Williams age 97 of Litteral Fork Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. She was born November 10, 1917 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Simon and Mintie Estep Rigsby. She was the wife of Manford Williams, who preceded her in death. Survivors include four sons; Floyd C.
