In the HWMS Hornets’ opening scrimmage of the season the Leslie County Eagles defeated the Hornets with an 8-0 victory. The Hornets host the Eagles this Thursday and look to even the score.
READY, SET, HUT...The Salyersville Grade School football program has given out football equipment to eager youngsters who want to be a part of the football tradition started here in Magoffin County.
Last Friday night, our very own hometown Hornets opened up their regular season grid with a 20-12 victory over the Trimble County Raiders.
Last Thursday, the HWMS Hornets were in action at home against the Estill County Patriots in their second scrimmage of the season.
Last Friday the Magoffin County Hornets traveled to Letcher County to go nose-to-nose with the Bulldogs in their first scrimmage of the season.
The Leslie County Eagles, having the home field advantage, handed the HWMS Hornets their first loss of the season by a score of 8-0.
The grade school football program showed some big numbers with their opening practice Tuesday, August 17.
Any 3rd-6th grade elementary students that wish to participate in Elementary football will have the opportunity to sign up on Thursday (tonight) at 6 pm at the Magoffin County Football Complex.
With temperatures flirting with 100 degrees and heat indexes running over 100, the Magoffin County High School and the Herald Whitaker Middle School football teams work to stay hydrated.
