When the officer stopped to check if the vehicle was okay, he noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man.

The individual, identified later as Burland Holland, 47, of Salyersville, gave the officer his personal information, and while waiting for it to come back, he advised police he was a federal agent with a badge number 1491, as well as said he had diplomatic immunity. He also said he was a U.S. Congressman.

Holland was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, third or greater in 12 months; impersonating a public servant; and impersonating a police officer.

Magoffin County Sheriff Department reiterated that they continue to look for drug activity in the community, asking for tips from the public about known drug areas in Magoffin County. All tips can be made anonymously.
