Lonnie “Brute” Robinson, 77, of New Allen, KY, formerly of Martin, KY, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family, on March 11, 2026. Born in Floyd County on January 7, 1949, he was the 10th child of the late Olva “Ollie” Robinson and Mollie Goodman Robinson.
After spending many years working as a coal miner, Lonnie later retired from the Maintenance Department of the Floyd County Board of Education. He enjoyed all sports, but especially golf, which he loved spending time playing after retirement.
In addition to his wife, Karon Wireman Robinson, he is survived by three sons: Stuart (Sherry) Robinson of Langley, KY; Toby Robinson of Allen, KY; and Kevin (Leslie) Robinson of Senoia, Georgia; and one daughter, Lauren (Andrew) Lewis of Prestonsburg, KY.
He was a wonderful Pappy to seven grandchildren who brought him great joy: Clinton (Jaimie) Turner, Leigh (Chadd) Williams-Daniels, Kendal Robinson, Lindsey Robinson, Daniel Lewis, Maci Lewis, & Benji Lewis.
Lonnie is also survived by his brothers, Claude “Mugsy” Robinson, James “Red” Robinson, and Ricky “Shin” Robinson, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings: Annabelle Slone, Harrison Robinson, Everett Robinson, Hilene Blackburn, Ollie Robinson Jr., Sally Ray, Dolly Robinson, Willa Slone, & Gary Blackburn Robinson.
Lonnie was a good man who loved his family and was proud of the life he built. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 15, 2026 in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Brent Tackett officiating. Burial followed in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
