SALYERSVILLE – Summer is officially here, with the Ramey Memorial Pool now open!
The pool opened to the public on Monday, June 8, after a brief delay to work on a leak that was discovered when it was filled at the end of May.
Also at the park is the new, state-of-the-art and inclusive playground, while the old playground is officially closed to the public. The Magoffin County Fiscal Court released the following statement on Tuesday announcing the closure and that the old equipment will be removed soon:
Magoffin County Fiscal Court as well as the Ramey Park Board want to share an important update with everyone who enjoys spending time at Ramey Park. The old playground equipment has been officially closed. The gates around the area have been locked, and the equipment will be removed in the near future.
Over the years, thousands of children have played on that equipment, and while it has served the community well, it has now reached a point where it is no longer safe for kids to use. Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of the families who visit the park, and this decision was made with that in mind.
The new, state of the art playground is open and ready for everyone to enjoy. This equipment meets modern safety standards, offers more inclusive play options, and provides a fun, updated space for children of all ages. We’re excited for families to explore the new features and create fresh memories together.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we continue improving Ramey Park.
Ramey Memorial Pool
Public Swim Hours:
Monday–Saturday • 12 PM–6 PM
(Hours may vary due to weather or other circumstances.)
Admission:
• $3 per person
• Ages 2 and under get in FREE
—-At this time, we are not offering season passes due to the leaking issues at the pool that we have worked tirelessly to resolve. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.
General Rules:
• Swimwear required — no street clothes
• No outside food or personal coolers
• Concessions available
• NO DIVING and NO RUNNING on the deck
Pool Parties:
Monday–Saturday: 6–8 PM & 8–10 PM
Sunday: 2–4 PM, 4–6 PM, 6–8 PM, 8–10 PM
• $200 for 2 hours
• Must be paid 7 days in advance
• Lifeguards provided
• Outside food & drinks allowed for parties
