Indictment released

SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury released the following indictment, filed on June 18:

Brandon R. Howard, 33, of West Liberty, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony); first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, fentanyl (Class D felony); and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about March 4, 2026, Howard allegedly possessed quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with drug paraphernalia.

According to police records, Howard was arrested on a warrant for the charges on July 3 in Morehead by the Morehead Police Department.

At press time, Howard remains in the Rowan County Detention Center, being held on a $5,000 cash bond. He is set for an arraignment hearing on August 20 at 10 a.m. in the Magoffin County Justice Center.

Grand jury indictments with issued arrest warrants are released only after the defendant has been served with that arrest.
