ELK CREEK – Three were arrested at an Elk Creek home while police were looking for two fugitives wanted in Johnson County.
On July 31 the Magoffin County Sheriff Department was at an Elk Creek residence where they believed two people wanted from Johnson County were, finding the last vehicle they were reportedly seen in parked behind the home, according to the police report.
Police made numerous attempts to get the occupants to come to the door, even seeing someone lying on the floor at the back door. They surrounded the residence and made numerous attempts with the PA system to identify themselves and tell them to open the door, but no one would comply. One of the officers were able to identify the person lying on the floor at the back door as one of the wanted individuals, so they were able to apply for and be granted a search warrant for the home, according to the arrest citation.
Once inside, the Magoffin County Sheriff Department detained three people: Tonya Rowe was located in the middle bedroom. Adam Caldwell in the laundry room at the back door, and Jerry Arnett (the home owner) was located in the middle bathroom with the shower curtain closed and holding his cell phone, cigarettes and a lighter, according to the police report.
During the search, police reportedly found a bag containing a white, rocky-type substance and one syringe on the kitchen counter.
All three were detained and charged as follows:
Jerald Lowell Arnett, 49, of Salyersville, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense (methamphetamine) and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia;
Adam Allen Caldwell, 45, of Salyersville, who was also facing charges out of Johnson County, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense (methamphetamine) and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia;
Tonya Rowe, 49, also of Salyersville, and also facing charges out of Johnson County, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense (methamphetamine).
Magoffin County Sheriff Department Deputies Eugene Salyer, Neil Watson and Tyler Lafferty were listed as working the case.
